Sierra Nevada will adapt the capacity to the skiable domain at all times.
Sierra Nevada - which will discount the capacity of season pass holders, long term pass holders and free use passes (including Snow Friday) - will inform daily on the website of the percentage of passes that can be purchased and will block those days that are full.
How is the capacity calculated?
Sierra Nevada establishes the capacity on the slopes taking into account the transport capacity of the lifts that are operational each day (vehicle occupancy + travel time), the waiting time of users before accessing the lifts, the skiable area (hectares of open slopes) and the frequency of descents of the average user on the slope of the slopes that come into service each day (it is estimated that a skier or snowboarder skis an average of 5 hours a day on runs that add up to a difference in altitude of 3,700 meters).
Taking advantage of the obligation to limit the capacity, the resort is going to deepen the calculation of capacity by introducing other variables such as the difficulty of the slopes that are put into service. To this will be added an on-site measurement of user behavior by time slots and its effect on the access queues in ski lifts and distribution in the ski area that is enabled each day.
