Solar observation workshop

sol.jpg
  • Lugar: Fuente Alta
  • until: 6 de August
  • hour: 12:00 a 13:30

Description: In this outdoor activity we will be able to look at the Sun with our eyes - with the right protection, of course! We will use glasses with observation filters, we will learn and practice the technique of solar projection through a solaroscope and other homemade means, we will learn how to observe a solar eclipse with a skimmer or through the leaves of a tree! And the most important thing: we will observe the sun through a telescope with solar filters. We will be able to identify sunspots and even glares on the surface of the sun. We will complete the observations with simple experiments on the magnetic field and plasmas with which we will be able to understand how sunspots, flares and spectacular arcs work. And all this supported by models, and even music! The Sun enters through all five senses. Don't look at the sun, come and see it with us.

Follow-up: The activity is completed by sending families, via e-mail, a list of resources and experiences on solar physics and observation of the Sun.
Contents to be covered: How the stars work. The life cycle of the Sun. Plasma physics. Solar observation techniques. Sunspots and flares.
Skills to be developed: Scientific intuition. Critical thinking. Capacity for observation. Capacity for surprise. Self-esteem, patience and teamwork.
