  • The young athletes come from a high performance sports centre near the Hungarian border, destroyed by the war.
  • The Consejería de Hacienda y Financiación Europea, Cetursa, the FADI and parents from clubs in the resort are providing accommodation, food and sports programming in a solidarity action supported and coordinated by the Junta de Andalucía.

A total of 45 children and teenagers and 7 coaches from the Ukrainian Winter Sports Federation have arrived in Sierra Nevada after a 4-day journey by road from the border between Ukraine and Hungary, in a humanitarian action promoted by the Ministry of Finance and European Funding, Cetursa Sierra Nevada, the Andalusian Winter Sports Federation (FADI) and parents of the resort's clubs, in the face of the war conflict in the Ukrainian country after the invasion by the Russian army.

The expedition arrived on Saturday night at the Granadian winter resort, where Cetursa Sierra Nevada has provided them with accommodation and food, while the Andalusian Winter Sports Federation will integrate the young Ukrainian athletes into its sports training programmes from tomorrow. The two buses that have transported the expedition have been financed by the parents of the Sierra Nevada ski clubs.
