Sierra Nevada closes Holy Week with more than 72,500 users and 75% occupancy

The winter resort of Sierra Nevada has closed the Holy Week of 2022 with more than 72,500 users, of the 60,000 have been skiers and 12,500, visitors who enjoyed the snow activities for non-skiers or used the gondolas to access the Borreguiles area.

The average hotel occupancy from Friday 8 to April 15 has been 75 percent, although in the urbanization of Pradollano the percentage reached 80 percent.

During the festive period, with a day of closure due to wind (Monday 11), the resort has registered an average of 7,500 skiers a day.

The skiable average, with all areas open, has been 80 kilometers, with all the operational slope (1,200 meters) and 17 ski lifts in operation.

Last week of the season

For the rest, Sierra Nevada plans to keep five of its six areas open, 40 skiable kilometers and 10 operational ski lifts during the last week of the 2021/22 winter season, which will conclude on Sunday, April 24.

Thus, as of Monday, April 19, the Granada winter season plans to open the areas of Veleta, Laguna, Borreguiles, Loma de Dílar and Rio, although the maintenance of the lower parts will depend on the evolution of the snow.

To access these areas, the Al Andalus gondola lift, the Dauro and Borreguiles carpets, the Parador, Emile Allais, Veleta II, Stadium, Emilio Reyes and Laguna chairlifts, as well as the Antonio Zayas ski lift, will be operational.

The activities center for non-skiers Mirlo Blanco will keep the Russian sled open until the end of the campaign. On-piste dining will be covered at the Borreguiles restaurant with the Central Grill and the Mahalo Poke.
