Tips

Those who know the Sierra Nevada well know that spring is one of the best times of the season to enjoy skiing, especially if the resort keeps all the areas open, with good snow thicknesses. The clear skies, the perfectly groomed pistes with a special spring treatment and the pleasant temperatures make this snow, which changes throughout the day, one of the best in the country for skiing at this time of year.
For all these reasons, here are five reasons not to miss skiing in spring:
1.- The snow
In spring, the snow conditions in Sierra Nevada are very special. Due to its altitude, the slopes are kept in very good condition throughout the day. Early in the morning the snow is hard, so it is advisable to start skiing in the lower areas of the resort: Rio, Loma Dilar, Cauchiles..., as the morning progresses the snow begins to melt, to have a layer of 2 or 3 cm of soft snow, so you can go up to the area of Borreguiles, to finish the day in the area of La Laguna or in the Veleta.
Itineraries:
1.- Skiers or snowboarders of medium or high level can choose to start the day by going up to the Loma de Dilar area, it is advisable to start the day's skiing via the Loma Dilar piste until returning to Pradollano; or in the case of experts, opt for the descent of a 'black' piste such as Fuente del Tesoro.
2.- Back in the cable car, skiers and snowboarders can opt for a few descents down Borreguiles - Perdiz, Rebeco, Zorro, Morillas, Granados, etc.-,
3.- After going back up the Stadium chairlift we can do the long run of the El Águila de Cauchiles piste or other red pistes in that area.
4.- Towards midday you can go up to the highest peaks by the Zayas chairlift to ski the slopes closest to the Veleta or to go into the Laguna, where the snow remains in better condition until early afternoon.
5.- Of course, beginner skiers have the green slopes of Borreguiles and the Family Zone of the Mar piste in perfect condition throughout the day and if they reach a certain level, our advice is to try the blue slopes of the Loma de Dilar or Borreguiles.

2.- The weather
According to the resort's weather data, recorded over the years, in April, Sierra Nevada enjoys a high percentage of sunny days. The temperatures in this month are milder, which makes skiing easier for the youngest skiers and also makes it easier for beginners to take to skiing, as they do not have to suffer the rigours of winter.
3.- The prices
Sierra Nevada has launched a special offer for spring. Two days skiing, for only 66€. On sale exclusively <a href="https://centrocomercio.sierranevada.es/primavera-2022">ONLINE</a>
you don't have a ski pass yet, you can withdraw it at the station's cash machines. The purchase of the 2-day SPRING ski pass -for the same person- is limited to one order per person. These passes can be used on any day of the 2021-2022 season, on alternate or consecutive days.

5.- The attractions of the province
Where else in the world can you ski in the morning and swim in the sea in the afternoon? We can assure you that nowhere else. In the Sierra Nevada you can enjoy the slopes in the morning and, within an hour, take a dip in the sea on the Costa Tropical during the long spring afternoons.
A good sun cream, sunglasses and light clothing are all you need to enjoy the Sierra Nevada snow until the end of the season.

This application is used with the ski pass. You can try all the Skiline attractions before registering or afterwards, as you wish. The system saves the videos, descents and photos so you can view and download them whenever you want.
4.- Activate the El Subidón promotion for the University Community
For many years Sierra Nevada has been activating every season the El Subidón promotion for the purchase of ski days at very special prices. Designed for the university community, it is open to university students as well as teachers and administrative and service staff.
El Subidón is valid for undergraduate and postgraduate students at universities associated with the CRUE and the EUA. To benefit from the promotion, all you have to do is make an application through the website (www.elsubidon.es) attaching the supporting documentation to the Sierra Nevada Club account.
Once the documentation has been approved, you can access two products at very advantageous prices: Expert 2 days and Long Expert 5 days. 
5.- Use your European Youth Card to get important discounts.
The European Youth Card is valid in more than 40 countries, and with it you can enjoy discounts on all kinds of experiences: travel, leisure, culture, fashion, beauty... and of course winter sports in Sierra Nevada. This card is open to young people up to the age of 31.
At the resort you can get a 10% discount on season and long-stay passes (10, 15 and 20 days). Also to the offer "MAS + white days": 10% discount on midweek passes (Monday to Friday) from 2 to 5 consecutive days of ski passes, and prices with a 30% discount on 1-day passes, on the following dates: Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Epiphany and two days at Easter (14 and 15).

The heated terrace El Torreón, designed with modern and comfortable furniture, low tables and hammocks, offers skiers a unique atmosphere, a gourmet experience and a tasting point for the exquisite Moët &amp; Chandon champagne. The special feature of this establishment is the careful service on the cordoned-off terrace and the attention you receive at the table with a special premium menu.
This season, you can enjoy delicious salads, a wide variety of toasts or gourmet hamburgers. You can also pair toasts or desserts with a glass or bottle of Moët &amp; Chandon.

Sierra Nevada faces the first weekend of April with more than 90 skiable kilometres, with slopes in all areas of the resort, the entire operating vertical drop (1,200 metres), up to two and a half metres thick, and an extensive sports and music programme in what is one of the busiest and liveliest moments of the 2023/24 winter season.  After last weekend's snowfalls and strong winds, the resort's technical services have recovered the offer prior to the passage of the Nelson squall, which, in addition to bringing between 50 and 80 centimetres of new snow, hit some of the resort's ski lifts hard, generating blocks of ice on pulleys and rockers, and unhooking the cable of chairlifts such as Stadium, Monachil or Virgen de las Nieves.  All in all, the resort faces the spring season with great snow conditions. The Laguna and Borreguiles areas accumulate up to two and a half metres of powder snow, the same quality as in the Veleta area with almost two metres of snow on some pistes. The other three sectors of the resort, Loma Dílar, Río and Cauchiles-Parador accumulated between 75 and 130 centimetres of spring snow.

Intense sporting and musical agenda
As for the rest, the sporting and musical agenda this weekend is one of the most intense of the winter season.
The Sun and Snow festival kicks off this Friday with its fifth edition, the most ambitious electronic music event held at the highest altitude in southern Europe, with four stages distributed from Pradollano to Borreguiles, where - until Sunday - 36 musical sessions will take place.
The sports agenda includes five major events. The most popular will be the Ultra Sierra Nevada with more than 1,500 mountain runners registered in its four distances: Ultra, Trail, Marathon and Half Marathon. The main event, the 100 km Ultra, starts this Friday (22.00h) in Granada; the first runners will arrive at Pradollano, after reaching an altitude of 3,000 metres, at midday on Saturday.
Another of the big events will be the National Veterans Trophy, which will attract the best Spanish skiers in the Masters category to Sierra Nevada. This edition will be dedicated to the late former president of the FADI, Juan Luis Hernández, who was one of the driving forces behind this competition.
On the other hand, one of the best Spanish skiers of all time, Carolina Ruiz, will be at the head of theAudio Quattro Cup-Carolina Ruiz Challenge, considered one of the most important ski competitions for children on the national scene. 
The Andalusian University Alpine Skiing Championship and theTrofeo Ruralito - Copa Andalucía de Esquí Alpino complete the sports agenda for the first weekend of April.
